The first Farriery Focus event, held at the NAC Stoneleigh 8 May, proved to be a major success.
Around 350-plus farriers attended and picked up valuable CPD points. They were treated to a combination of lectures in a specially constructed marquee, demonstrations of new products and the latest offerings from a wide array of industry suppliers, including Atlantic Equine.
In addition, they were able to watch the tournament of champions - a shoeing and shoemaking competition sponsored by Mustad Hoofcare between almost all surviving world champions. The clever money was on Paul Robinson to win with Stephen Beane as second favourite. As Jim Ferrie (who may perhaps have been slightly biased, having trained Paul Robinson) put it before the result was announced in that man's favour, 'Paul is young and at the top of his game.'
Paul received a handsome trophy from Mustad at the evening gala dinner.
Atlantic Equine's stand was busy throughout the day with many farriers interested in the product ranges on display - particularly Victory racing plates, Vallorbe horse rasps, SoundHorse glue-on shoes, Equilox Hoof Repair, Cavallo hoof boots and Mondial horseshoe nails.
