DENMAN STORMS INTO HISTORY BOOKS

Congratulations to Denman and the whole Paul Nicholls Racing team for an astonishing win in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury on Saturday 28 November under top weight.

Denman stormed home to win the race by 3 1/2 lengths from stablemate What a Friend and to enter the history books as the first horse since the mighty Arkle to win  the Hennessy twice.

His performance was all the more remarkable in that the 2008 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner suffered a heart problem later in that year and was never fully 'right' in the 2008/9 season.

Paul Nicholls now clearly has him back to his best, much to the delight of his ebullient part-owner Harry Findlay, and the horse now vies with stablemate Kauto Star for favouritism for the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March 2010.
